Organizer and Designer: Kira Vanderlan
Meet Kira Vanderlan. Kira has lived in Minnesota over seven years and started a home organizing and design business, Zestful Design, based in Maple Grove.
Zestful Design also does staging and assists clients with life transitions, such as moving, downsizing, retiring, or a loss of a loved one. Kira steps in to help when people have a hard time letting go.
Along with her professional work, Kira volunteers at First Nations Kitchen, a non-profit providing free meals to the Indigenous community. She enjoys serving meals and sitting down with them. In her free time, Kira has also completed two Ironman races. She hopes to complete a marathon in every state, and she’s already done eight of them!
Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
A: I have always loved organizing and design! Moreso I love helping others. It is amazing how lives can transform when they declutter, organize, and design their living and working space.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Maple Grove and what do you love to eat there?
A: Punch Pizza! It’s so delicious and reminds me of my travels to Italy.
Q: What’s your favorite quote or Bible verse?
A: You got this!
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Hike to the Mt. Everest base camp.
Q: What is the one TV show you can’t miss?
A: Any new Netflix stand-up comedy specials.
Q: If you could join any past or current music group which would you want to join? Why?
A: Queen! They are just amazing, and Freddie Mercury is the coolest. Could you imagine being with the band during their concert at Wembley Stadium!
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Maple Grove?
A: Certainly The Lookout! Their location, the food, and the atmosphere is totally Maple Grove!
Q: What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
A: I am transforming a Minneapolis school teacher’s spare room into a proper home office and study space! It is impossible to find a desk right now! Bookshelves are hard to come by as well!
